Wieland-Davco Awarded New Projects
Greenstone, Spring Arbor and Livingston County All Hire Wieland-Davco Corporation
The Wieland-Davco Corporation will serve as the General Contractor for GreenStone Farm Credit Services new corporate headquarters in East Lansing, MI, the company announced in July. Greenstone is the leading agricultural lender throughout Michigan and northeast Wisconsin.
Located along the U.S. 127 corridor just north of Lake Lansing Road at 3515 West Road, the new 78,000 square foot building will replace GreenStone’s current corporate office located on Abbey Road just south of the construction site.
The $18.8 million project (construction $8.6 million) will not only allow the association to consolidate its corporate staff into one location, it will also provide the opportunity for the organization to hire upwards of 65 new employees by 2013 according to its long-term strategic plan.
Plante & Moran CRESA, a real estate and construction consulting firm from Southfield (MI), is acting as the owner’s representative for the project. Their services included handling the RFP process for construction services. The Wieland-Davco Corporation was selected from over 20 general contractors as one of six firms to be “short-listed” to bid the project, based on its qualifications. After a competitive bidding process, Wieland-Davco emerged as a comprehensive winner.
“The Wieland-Davco Corporation was selected based on a variety of factors,” said Paul Rivetto, Senior Partner at PM-CRESA. “Of course, price was a primary concern, but not the only concern. The committee was very impressed with Wieland-Davco’s previous accomplishments, with its ISO system, and was especially impressed with the strong interview the firm gave when it presented its price.”
Jerry Kirkland will serve as the Principal-in-Charge for the project, while Matt Getchell will serve as Senior Project Manager. Ben LeBlanc will be Assistant Project Manager, Jerry Risch the on-site Superintendent, and Betsy Zietlow the Contract Administrator.
Construction is already underway, and the project is scheduled to be completed sometime in the fall of 2010.
Spring Arbor University – Gainey Hall
Spring Arbor University has hired The Wieland-Davco Corporation as its construction manager to construct the proposed new $6.5 million Gainey Hall II dormitory project, the University announced in June.
Spring Arbor University, a 135-year old institution, now attracts over 4,000 students and offers a Christ-centered, liberal arts education. Founded in 1873 by leaders of the Free Methodist Church, Spring Arbor University is nestled in the scenic beauty of south central Michigan. Its main campus sits on a 100-acre parcel.
“We are very honored to gain the confidence of Spring Arbor University and to earn the right to construct this very exciting new project,” said Scott Wieland, Executive Vice-President at Wieland-Davco. “We hope to continue to partner with President Webb and his staff as they grow in the future.
Hobbs + Black Architects (Lansing office) is the architect for the project. For Wieland-Davco, Gunnar VanDeberg will be the Senior Project Manager, Terry Gordon the Assistant Project Manager, and Scott Mason the on-site Superintendent. Betsy Zietlow will serve as Contract Administrator.
Livingston County EMS facility
Livingston County has announced the hiring of The Wieland-Davco Corporation as Construction Manager to construct its new Emergency Medical Services facility in Howell, MI.
After an extensive, state-wide qualification process, followed by interviews with six Michigan-based contractors, Wieland-Davco was selected to work with Lindhout Associate Architects (Brighton, MI) to assist with pre-construction budgeting services, and ultimately to construct the new facility.
The actual project size and budget is yet to be finalized, however, preliminary plans call for one of two options to be executed. One plan features a project budget of approximately $10.75 million and would feature a single story emergency medical facility with an EMS garage and a survival flight hangar. The other option would feature a $12.5 million budget with a two-story office, the garage and the flight hangar.
Jerry Kirkland will serve as the Project Manager; Tom Smith as the Site Superintendent, and Amanda Nelson as the Contract Administrator. Construction will likely start in Spring, 2010.
